Features in detail

Signing up

New sign-ups are currently closed. When they are open, you need an email address, a password, your date of birth and the bot check, then you confirm your email address with a link or a code. The service is only for people over 18.

Login and two-step verification

You log in with your email address and password. In Settings you can turn on two-step verification with an authenticator app: we then also ask for a six-digit code at login, and you get ten one-time backup codes. If someone logs in to your account from a new device, we email you, and the Not me button in that email logs out every device.

Age and language

When you first open the site, you confirm that you are over 18. VágyLak works in Hungarian and English; you can switch the language in the header.

Password and email address

You can change both in Settings; a new email address must be confirmed with a link. If you forget your password, we email you a reset link.

Notifications

You can get notifications by email, push notification and on the site. For each topic (messages, matches, likes, profile views, stories, groups, reminders) you can choose instant delivery, a summary, or none. You can set quiet hours, and discreet mode uses neutral wording in emails and push notifications. You can also look back at all your notifications on the Notifications page.

Feedback to the team

With the Feedback button in the footer you can send us an idea or a bug report. We read them and fix things where needed; if you need a reply, send an email.

Pausing

You can hide your profile for a week, a month, three months or indefinitely. While paused, no one can see you, and you cannot send or receive new messages, but your conversations are kept.

Downloading your data and deleting your account

In Settings you can download your data as a JSON file. After deleting, you can restore your account by logging in within 30 days; after that we delete everything we are not required to keep, including the text of your sent messages. If you do not log in for two years, we tell you 30 days in advance and then delete the account.

Single and couple profiles

You can use VágyLak alone or as a couple. For a couple profile you also give your partner’s date of birth, gender and orientation; you must both be adults and both want to take part.

Profile preview and completeness

In the profile editor you can see how others see you, and we show as a percentage how complete your profile is. We warn you about unsaved changes before you leave.

Introduction and prompt cards

A nickname, an introduction, and up to three prompt cards with your answers, to make it easier to start a conversation with you. Moderators review the texts; you may not include contact details (phone number, social media).

Photos and albums

You can upload up to 9 photos to your public album and up to 20 to your private album (JPEG, PNG or WebP, at most 10 MiB). Moderators check every photo. Only an approved, non-explicit public photo can be your profile photo. You share your private album from the chat menu with whoever you choose and can revoke it at any time; shared photos carry the viewer’s name as a watermark.

Desires

You can mark what you love, what you would try and what is not for you. We use this to calculate how well you match with someone, shown as a percentage on profiles. You can choose who can see your desires.

Desire quiz

Twenty short questions, three to four minutes. Your answers fill in your desire list, and we show how many members near you match you above 70%.

Secret desires

You can mark up to 10 desires in secret. Only what you both marked is revealed, and only between matches. A new mark only counts after 24 hours, so nobody can fish for the other person’s secrets.

Boundaries card

You can say what matters to you on a date (such as protection, meeting in public first, no photos, staying sober, talking first, a safe word, discretion, recent test results), and what is a must and what is open to discussion. Your matches and chat partners only see what you agree on and what is worth talking about.

Selfie verification

You get a pose and upload a selfie showing it within 15 minutes. A moderator compares it with your profile photo and also checks that you are over 18. If it matches, you get a blue check. Only the moderator sees the selfie, and we delete it after the decision. There is a limited number of attempts per day, and you first need an approved profile photo.

Badges

Blue check: verified member. Real meetings: several members said meeting them was real and safe. VIP badge and profile frame: VIP subscription.

Visibility and activity

You can choose for each field who can see it, such as your orientation. You can hide when you were last active (then you cannot see others’ activity either), and turn off appearing in the Nearby list.

Swiping

We show cards of people who match your search and whose search you match. Swipe right to like, left to move on. Free members get 20 likes a day; Premium and VIP are unlimited. Someone you skipped is not shown again for 30 days unless they update their profile. Undoing your last swipe is part of Premium.

Match

If you both like each other, it is a Match and you can message each other for free. The Matches page lists all your matches and your saved profiles.

Super desire

You show someone that you really like them: they see it straight away, and you can add a short message. It costs Flames; the price list shows the price.

Daily picks

Every day you get a few picks chosen for you on the discovery page: 5 for free members, 10 with Premium and VIP.

Browsing and filters

You can browse profiles in a grid by age, distance, who you are looking for, single or couple, relationship type, activity, orientation and photo. Detailed filters (physical attributes, desires, last activity) and saved searches are part of Premium. We only filter by orientation for members who made it public.

Nearby and exact location

Shows people near you. We calculate distance from the centre of your town, or if you allow it, from your exact location; we store it encrypted, others only see a rounded distance, and you can delete it at any time.

Free tonight

If you turn it on, you signal for 24 hours that you are open to meeting that evening, and you appear in the Free tonight band on the Nearby page.

Travel mode

With Premium you can browse the Nearby list around another town, for example before a trip. Others still see your home location.

Incognito mode

With Premium, only people you liked can see you, and your profile views are not shown.

Interested

Here you see who liked you (and you have not answered yet) and who viewed your profile in the last 30 days. Blurred for free members, by name with Premium and VIP, and you can like them back with one tap.

Saved profiles

Use the bookmark button on a profile to save someone for later. Only you can see this, and they are not notified.

Boost, spotlight and Free tonight highlight

Boost: for 30 minutes you move up in Swiping, Browsing and Nearby, and afterwards we show how many members saw and liked you. Spotlight: for 24 hours you appear in the highlighted band at the top of Swiping. Free tonight highlight: while your status is on, you move up among people free tonight. They cost Flames; Premium and VIP also include free monthly boosts. The price list shows the prices and numbers.

Starting a conversation

You can always write to your matches. Without a match, free members can write to 10 new people a day, Premium members to 30 and VIP members to any number; there is no limit in conversations that have already started. If you are not sure how to start, pick an icebreaker, or we suggest one based on your shared desires.

Featured message

If someone uses inbox protection, or you have used up your daily allowance for new people, you can still write to them with a featured message: you land at the top of their inbox and can write to them at any time afterwards. You can pay with money, with one Premium day if you have Premium (your subscription then ends one day earlier), or with an unlock you got back. If the recipient does not even open it within 7 days, you get one free unlock back. The price list shows the price.

Inbox protection

You can choose that new members can only write to you with a featured message: automatically (when many people write in one day), always, or never.

Messages from matches only

If you turn it on, only people you have liked each other with can write to you. A featured message cannot get around this either.

Sending photos

You can send photos in a chat. The recipient gets them blurred and opens them with a tap; their nickname and the date appear as a watermark, and hidden photo data (such as location) is not passed on. You can also send a view-once photo, which disappears after it is viewed. You can withdraw a photo. There is a daily limit on photos.

Gifts

You can send a virtual gift in a chat for Flames: a rose, a kiss, a cocktail, champagne or a diamond. The price list shows their prices.

Typing and read receipts

You see when the other person is typing. With Premium and VIP you also see when they read your message.

Withdrawing a message

You can withdraw a sent text message for 10 minutes, as long as the other person has not read it. A Withdrawn message marker stays in its place.

Disappearing messages

Either of you can set the messages sent in a chat from then on to be deleted after 24 hours or 7 days for both of you; earlier messages are kept. The other person sees straight away who turned it on. If either of you reports the other, a copy of the last 50 messages stays with the moderators for 30 days.

Not interested

We send a polite, neutral reply on your behalf, and for 30 days they cannot write to you, like you, or see you in swiping. They do not find out why. If you write to them after all, the lock ends.

Scam warning

If a message asks for money or payment, we show a warning next to it, and you can report it with one click.

Blocking and reporting

A blocked member cannot see you or write to you, and you cannot see them. Reporting also blocks, and the reported member does not find out it was you.

Official VágyLak messages

Among your conversations, in a separate thread, you get messages from VágyLak, such as moderator decisions and payment and legal information.

Groups

Shared interests, local company, easy-going chat. Moderators approve every group. Anyone can join a public group, a closed group by request, and a secret group by invitation only. Members can share posts, comments, reactions and photos; the owner and the group’s moderators keep order. If the owner is inactive for a long time, we warn them first, then long-standing active members can apply to take over; a group that has gone completely quiet is archived.

Group events

Group members can organise events at a venue or online, optionally with a capacity limit, and you can say who is coming. We send a reminder before the event.

Stories

You can write and read erotic stories. Moderators read every story before it appears, and you can publish anonymously. You can comment on stories, show that you liked them, and follow your favourite authors.

Party and club calendar

Club nights, parties and public group events in the next 60 days. For verified-only events, only verified members can see the venue and the sign-up link. You sign up for external events on the organiser’s site, under their terms.

Blog

Articles about first dates, discretion, open relationships, safer sex, consent and much more.

Safe date mode

Enter the time, the place, the partner and a friend’s email address. If you do not confirm by the deadline that all is well, both your friend and you get an email. It is optional, you can cancel it at any time, and we delete your friend’s details 30 days after the deadline.

Fake call

After a few seconds your phone shows an incoming call, so you have a reason to leave an awkward date.

Feedback after a meeting

A few days after a match we ask you privately whether you met, whether they matched their photos and whether you felt safe. It is never public; plenty of good feedback earns the Real meetings badge, and bad feedback goes to the moderators.

Unlock PIN, decoy PIN and disguise

If others can get to your phone, lock the site with a PIN: we ask for it when you open the site and after 5 minutes in the background. The decoy PIN opens a harmless notepad. Disguise gives the browser tab and the home screen icon the name Notes and a notepad icon.

Quick exit

The button in the header, or pressing Esc twice, takes you to a neutral page in an instant.

Discreet payment

With bank transfer, the beneficiary is a private individual and the reference is a neutral code, so the name VágyLak does not appear on your bank statement. With a card, you pay through SumUp’s secure card form or payment page, and we never see your card details.

Premium and VIP

Premium gives unlimited likes, 30 new people a day without a match, detailed filters, saved searches, read receipts, incognito and travel mode; VIP adds unlimited new people, higher placement in lists, a VIP badge and profile frame, highlighting your messages in the conversation list and priority support. Both are available for 1, 3 or 12 months; paid by card, they renew automatically at the end until you cancel. The price list shows exactly what is included and the prices.

Flames

Flames are spent inside VágyLak on boosts, spotlight, super desires, the Free tonight highlight and gifts. They are not money and cannot be refunded or transferred. Purchased Flames do not expire; Flames you get for VágyPont or for quests (collected Flames) expire after 60 days and are spent first. The price list shows the packs and prices.

Satisfaction guarantee

If you get no new match within 30 days of your first subscription, we extend it once, automatically, by 10 days. Details: Terms.

Invite programme

On the Invites page you find your own invite link. Anyone who signs up with it and whose profile and profile photo we approve counts for you (unless the new account can be linked to an existing member): after your 1st invitee you get 3 days of Premium, after the 6th 6 days, after the 10th 10 days, after the 15th 15 days and after the 30th 30 days. Your invitee does not see who invited them, and we do not show you who signed up with your link, only how many. Details: Terms.

Quests

On the Quests page you get VágyPont for one-off tasks (a completed profile, verification, the Desire quiz, written boundaries, a group or a story). You can collect with an approved profile and profile photo, within a week up to the limit shown on the page. There is no public leaderboard, everyone only sees their own progress. Details: Terms.

Seasonal events

On the Events page you see what is on now, what is coming soon and what was on before: the daily doors of VágyAdvent in December, the gift and tasks of the VágyLak Birthday on our anniversary, the Night of Desires on some evenings, and now and then a weekend gift box. The reward is known in advance, guaranteed, and there is no luck involved. If you ask, we remind you when it starts. Details: Terms.

VágyPont and the Gift shop

VágyPont (VP) is the internal reward point you get for quests and events: it is not money, cannot be bought and cannot be transferred. On the My gifts page you see your balance and when it expires (365 days by default), and in the shop you can redeem it for collected Flames, a boost or spotlight voucher, a profile frame for a period or a Premium trial. This is also where you pick your profile frame and hide your badges. Details: Terms.
