Safety and discretion
Tips for a first date, VágyLak’s safety features, and what you can do if something goes wrong.
Overview
1. Before the first date
- Chat on VágyLak before giving out your phone number or social media. A video call can confirm they are who they say they are.
- Meet in a busy public place the first time. Get there and back on your own, and keep your phone charged.
- Tell a friend where you are going and with whom. Safe date mode can do this for you.
- Listen to yourself: if you feel uncomfortable, you can leave without explaining. The fake call button helps.
- Talk about boundaries and protection beforehand. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
- Do not drink more than you want to, and do not leave your drink unattended.
2. Safety features on VágyLak
- Safe date mode: enter the time, the place and a friend’s email address. If you do not confirm that all is well by the deadline, your friend gets an email. It is optional and you can cancel it at any time.
- Fake call: after a few seconds your phone shows an incoming call, so you have a reason to say goodbye.
- Selfie verification: the verified badge shows that the member’s selfie matched their profile photos.
- Boundaries card and secret desires: you can see in advance what you agree on and what counts as a limit.
- Scam warning: if a message asks for money or payment, we show a warning and you can report it with one click.
- Disappearing messages: messages sent after it is turned on are deleted from the chat after 24 hours or 7 days.
- View-once photo: the photo disappears after it is viewed, and private photos carry a watermark with the viewer’s name.
- Messages from matches only: only people you have liked each other with can write to you.
- Unlock PIN, decoy PIN and disguise: if others can get to your phone, lock the site with a PIN; the decoy PIN opens a harmless notepad, and disguise gives the browser tab the name and icon Notes.
- Quick exit: the button in the header takes you to a neutral page in an instant.
- Discreet notifications and payment: emails and push notifications can use neutral wording, and with bank transfer the name VágyLak does not appear on your statement.
- Block and report: block or report anyone with one click; the reported member does not find out it was you.
- Feedback after a meeting: a few days after a match we ask whether you felt safe. It is never public, but it helps us spot people with bad intentions.
3. Spotting scams
Be suspicious if someone declares love quickly but always avoids meeting; asks for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, bank details or a loan; offers an investment; rushes you; or wants to move to another app straight away. Never send money to someone you do not know, and never give anyone your bank details, password or one-time codes. If this happens, report the member.
4. Discretion
Watermarks and view-once photos deter copying, but we cannot fully prevent screenshots or photos taken with another device. Only show your face or recognisable details to people you trust. You can pause your profile at any time, remove yourself from the nearby list, and browse in incognito if your plan includes it.
5. If something goes wrong
- Immediate danger: call 112.
- Domestic or sexual violence, human trafficking: Hungarian national crisis line OKIT, 06 80 20 55 20, free, day and night.
- Emotional crisis: 116-123, emotional first aid helpline.
- Misuse of intimate images, blackmail, content involving children: NMHH Internet Hotline, https://nmhh.hu/internethotline, and the police.
- On VágyLak: report the member or the content, and write to us at support@vagylak.hu. If you report a crime, the authorities can officially request the necessary data from us.
As evidence, note the member’s nickname and the times, and save screenshots of the conversation. Do not forward illegal intimate images to anyone; telling the authorities and us where they can be seen is enough.
6. Sexual health
Talk about protection and testing before you meet. Regular testing and condoms protect against most sexually transmitted infections. If you have been in a risky situation, see a doctor as soon as possible.
